N.E.L.L. Redlegs Baseball — Most Improved Player and Championship Season

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia CYO 36th Annual Football Parade of Champions program, dated November 20, 1993, schedules the undefeated St. Anastasia Spartans varsity team at 8–0 against Ascension/Holy Innocents. Its printed roster lists No. 16 Nick Reynolds, guard, which raises his team membership from firsthand identification to institutional roster verification. A separate saved team program records the Fighting Spartans as Division B champions, Parade of Champions honorees and Turkey Bowl champions.

Under the notebook item headed "Time to talk," the DelcoSport football notebook reports that after Marple Newtown's 21–14 loss to Lower Merion, quarterback Keith Gornish and Nick Reynolds called a players-only meeting so their teammates could air their differences. Coach Jim Smith called the meeting productive and said the team was completely different afterward, with three terrific days of practice behind them. Marple then lost 21–14 to Springfield, a game Smith called the team's best of the year while praising the effort and the emotion the players brought to it. The item is a contemporary published record of Nick Reynolds taking a leadership role as a senior, in a stretch of the season in which the team lost both games.

DelcoSport's coverage of Penn Wood's 27–7 win over Marple Newtown, printed under the headline "Trogdon's effort one for the books," centers on Penn Wood running back Terrance Trogdon. In it, Trogdon describes Marple linebacker Nick Reynolds as a good player, says he was impressed by him and says Reynolds never gave up. The value of the entry is that it is contemporary opponent testimony, published in the paper the same week and spoken by the opposing star in a game Marple lost. Millersville's Other Co-Captain — October 23, 2001

A Delaware County Daily Times feature by correspondent Herm Rogul identifies Nick Reynolds as Millersville's other co-captain during the 2001 season, alongside Terrance Trogdon. Trogdon recalls the final high-school game the two played against each other, and Nick recalls telling him “I'll see you at Millersville” at the Senior Bowl and calls him one of his best friends at the university. This is a later program award named in Nick Reynolds's honor — an award given each year to a Marple Newtown player, not an award he received himself. It is not the title of any award he won in 1997: his 1997 honors were Team MVP and the Jim Smith Most Dedicated Player award, and those titles are recorded unchanged elsewhere on this site. It is likewise unconnected to the program's later naming of the MVP award for Pete Massaro.
